TRADE AND URBANISATION IN THE UNION TERRITORY OF JAMMU AND KASHMIR
Abstract
The pace of urbanization in Jammu and Kashmir is increasing and urgent attention needs to be paid to the spatial distribution of population for planning a sustainable urban future where there has been considerable variation among different regions of the state. The present study is entirely based on census data of India during 2011 and 2021. Various urbanization indicators were used in the present study and necessary using GIS to show the pattern of urbanization among different districts of the state Choropleth map preparation. This paper creates an example for the intensive development of the three sectors as a key approach to ensuring sustainable urbanization in the country. The results show that there are significant differences in the level of urbanization between districts and regions of J&K. So the development of this district can ensure more balanced regional development among the three regions of the state viz In Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
